[It's been a few days since Ryou had revived from his death. A few days since his death had brought about the end of the mid-month trouble, rather.
He hasn't gone home yet. All this time, he's been wandering Dyster, in one form or another. Today, he's shapeshifted into a wolf that is not his overpowered tier 2 wolf form. Rather, it looks surprisingly similar to his werewolf travel form, and doesn't give off the same oppressive, angered aura as the tier 2 buff.
The ruff of fur that cascades down his neck and shoulders and which also creates a fringe of bangs that would be unmistakable to anyone who knows him...well, it's a pretty dead giveaway. Even with the silvery gray cloak he's wearing.
It's for the better, since he's basically walking aimlessly, head down, paws gently moving along the dark pathways between living spaces within Dyster.
He doesn't even realize...that he's walking towards a familiar face. His head's down, and he doesn't have werewolf senses despite his looks.
Why would he be looking for the Ring-Spirit at this point anyway? Ryou's out for a walk...but he's been avoiding people like the plague for days, and is only out stretching his legs because he can't very well stare into the courtyard pond and lose himself in the lilies forever, right?]
sorry for the delay on my end asdsa... also upcoming-[cw: mouth/teeth body horror]
[ The Ring-Spirit has also been hiding out in Dyster since his death shook him out of the shade-sauce. Now back to his usual harpy-self, he's realized that he um. has a couple regrets. So he's spent the past... while... trying to either ignore the looming issue altogether or actively ponder how to proceed. Neither is very comfortable for him, and he's relieved when he finally goes for a stroll and happens to see someone he has a non-apologizing reason for talking to. That said, he has a bad feeling about why Ryou might be likewise moping in Dyster - at least he seems to have gotten a priest's cloak out of it, nice. ]
Hey.
[ Should Ryou look up, the Ring-Spirit looks normal. ]
...You feenin' any begger yen?
[ Ok scratch that, there is clearly something wrong with his tongue. The Ring-Spirit pulls a face as he realizes how he sounds. ]
[ The Ring-Spirit nods, somewhere between reassuring and irritated. ]
Yeah, i'th buth -
[ The Ring-Spirit cuts himself off with a groan, finally giving up. He rolls his eyes, then sticks out his tongue and points at it by way of explanation.
Along the edge of his tongue, the Ring-Spirit once had avian ridges, much like the creepy "teeth" ducks and geese have on their tongues; those are gone now. Instead, he sports a new row of actual, human teeth. On his tongue.
They're proving an obstacle to speech. ...He'll adjust.
Also, Ryou may notice that the Ring-Spirit's right hand, which he's been wrapping with athletic tape since the Fourth marked a bunch of them, is now unwrapped - and free of the hieratic four tattoo that Atem may or may not have mentioned (or maybe even Ryou'd asked about the tape previously; the Ring-Spirit certainly would have explained the unwanted tattoo if he'd asked). ]
First, I'm indebted for your help with Jeannette. We reconciled before she [ pixellated and fell apart in saint-germain's arms offstage, smiling that she got to see her angel again, if only for a little while, and telling her she'll be waiting for angel-sama in heaven ] departed.
But I also had a question regarding a conversation you had on the RSDOS. With Akaba Reira, about [ forget "cringe is dead" - in symphogear, cringe was never even conceived, so she's able to type, with a straight face: ] card games.
It seems a certain game had great power in your world. As part of my research into extant energy sources outside Ryslig, I'd like to know more.
[ Is this why Ra's-Manifestations-Are-What-Is-Right-And-True Atem sees the world as a game...? They were of tantamount importance....?! Can the game assist in revolting against oppression...?? ]
I'm admittedly not an expert on the card games. those were never my main thing. I know a bit more about the system they were originally inspired by, but...
Anything in particular you wanted to know?
[ Maybe looking at things as "shoptalk" would help... he does enjoy talking magic theory... ]
[ After retrieving the Millennium Puzzle and arranging it in his family's butsudan he'd set up in his museum exhibit, the Ring-Spirit went back to Gregory House, a large mansion outside of Bavan. It was once full of people, as suits a house of its size, but now... well, every one eventually went back into the Sea of Stars, so... at least he can keep Kul Elna here with him now without it bothering anyone.
So the first response Saint-Germain gets is a hideous shriek coming from somewhere inside the house, like a hundred damned souls all screaming at once for someone to get the phone.
Shortly after, the Ring-Spirit opens the door as if nothing blood-curdling just happened,, ]
Saint-Germain?
[ He cocks an eyebrow, puzzled, though mostly he looks... tired. He's very tired today. ]
H-heh... [ He quirks a crooked half-smile, lightly amused. ] Right, your "suffering mechanism" theory.
[ His smile widens somewhat as he steps aside to allow her entry. ]
Sure, come on in. What's in the box?
[ A ghostly wisp drifts out into view through a nearby wall, their skeletal expression curious as they bob along midair. A visitor!! With gifts!! Goodness! ]
[ The Ring-Spirit's irritation with Javert has had time to cool since the aftermath of Ryou's reporting his killing of the guy, but that irritation's not gone. Javert's being unusually polite though, considering... worth seeing what this is about, at least. ]
ah, *you*. so you want advice now? whatever regarding?
as for Ryou and I, sure, after a fashion. we consider ourselves family, and the body I inhabit is a duplicate of his; that close enough for you?
[ He'll explain himself if Javert bothers to press - the Bakurae "it's complicated" relationship status is hardly a secret; but he's feeling enough impatience that he doesn't immediately feel like volunteering the full story. ]
[Javert can't even bring himself to press further on what a body duplicate of Ryou Bakura could mean, and as it's irrelevant to know the mechanics, he doesn't press. He simply labels them 'identical twins' in his head and moves on.]
Regarding Bakura, of course. You are close to one another, I take it. Very well, let it be so. I will cut to the finish.
Would you be willing to come and speak off-network, in the flesh, in a cordial capacity? Let us call it tea time. Don't waste my minutes if the answer is no.
The Ring-Spirit has to really think about this one. He'd rather not have some kind of social visit with Javert of all people, but... could this potentially end up helping Ryou in some way? Hm. Hrrrmmm. ...Well, he'll never know if he refuses upfront. Accepting an invitation doesn't prevent him from a rude exit should he find the visit lacking in value. ]
For Ryou's sake I'll give it a shot. I'll meet you at your Dyster place then, I already know where it is. I'm assuming this can't be over the network due to eavesdropping little boys?
[ Rather than waiting on a reply, the Ring-Spirit directly heads over to Dyster and the gloomy mansion he knows to be Javert's.
There seem to be Dysterites cleaning up some sort of mess of broken bottles outside one of the windows. ...Huh. He doesn't ask them what that's all about, but does ask one for a leg-up and ducks carefully in through said window.
And if Javert's not already present, he'll arrive to find the Ring-Spirit already waiting patiently in an arm chair, long bird-legs crossed at the knee, spidery metal-taloned fingers knit into a little shelf supporting his chin. If Javert is present, the Ring-Spirit simply seats himself as described, before any invitation. ]
[ Considering the fact that he has instant revival in Dyster, it takes the Ring-Spirit a surprising amount of time to answer... but it's still not very long in the grand scheme of things. ]
oh is that where it is. I was wondering, usually it reappears with me.
[ He shifts awkwardly on his side of the laptop in response to the apology. Mnn... how does he... ]
it's really not a big deal. got that thing out of me. long as we're apologizing for shit, sorry it took me so long to get back to you, had to make this salt garland necklace thing whatever, point is I was sick of getting possessed and needed to take measures before I risked leaving Dyster again. and I'd left my laptop back at the Gregory place, so.
don't worry about apologizing either. i understand you needed to protect yourself.
unfortunately i can't access dyster anymore so it's not as if i could check on you as soon as you...
well, anyway do you want me to come over? or do you have another suggestion for how I can drop them off?
[Them being the Ring just as well as Kul Elna. Ryou feels weird to be keeping the Ring-Spirit's family away from him, and the Ring isn't his anymore, no matter how he feels about it.]
[ Indeed, back to being a harpy once more with his increased flight-speed, the Ring-Spirit makes good time. It helps that the local spirits are no longer causing mayhem too. He arrives at Ryou and Atem's house wearing the Ring and Kul Elna in tow, as usual. Everything's slowly getting back to what passes for normal around here, just in time for something newly horrible to happen. (Like the graveyard being eaten - but that's probably not what Ryou wants to discuss in person.) ]
[After that confirmation, Ryou closes his laptop and immediately heads outside, evidently to awkwardly pace in his own front yard. His tail is lashing back and forth in anxious spasms as he does so, though the colors which normally betray his mood are notably absent.
Furthermore, his hair seems more unkempt than usual, draped over his scarred right eye in a way that could almost come off as purposeful.
When the Ring-Spirit finally shows up, Ryou's so caught up in his own stress that he doesn't immediately notice. Like. Seriously, those wings make a lot of noise due to air displacement, he's really some kind of anxious to miss it.]
