how long have he and the Pharaoh been dancing around each other it's ABSURD
[ what was that about not changing the subject, marik ]
<GODKING>
so
they're *both* interested, but nothing?
what
[ The Ring-Spirit has no idea what to do with this information yet, aside from doublechecking that it is, in fact, what Marik's saying. ]
<hotrod>
It's distracting so I'm hooking them up.
<GODKING>
Yeah, he could see it. They're not not each other's types - well, maybe. What is the pharaoh's type? What's he into besides simply "winning"? Besides ~defeating evil~? Uh... The Ring-Spirit frowns as he tries to focus on what he knows about the pharaoh as a person rather than the role and...
...and, uh.
The Ring-Spirit's opposite number himself doesn't waste much time on considering ~the pharaoh as a person~, does he. What does not!Adam, the person, want? Does not!Adam, the person, even know? Because the Ring-Spirit can see how he might not, and that's... what Marik means with the tunnel vision, isn't it.
...
Shit.
Among other things, the Ring-Spirit's previous "there's no time between rounds"-advice was perfectly misaimed for that kind of laser focus, he should have spelled out the necessity of SOME selfishness - gah! He's way too used to taking "I am GOING to be distracted by things as I see and decide I want them" for granted as a factor.
On another level, the Ring-Spirit is quietly, resignedly, disappointed in himself. He is invested in all the wrong directions. It's been ridiculous for a while now, he might as well just keep rolling with it at this point. ]
you have a plan for this that *doesn't* involve card games?
[ Because you ran a card game-mafia/cult, your last Big Plan involved playing card games, and don't think he didn't notice that your other current Big Plan ALSO involves playing a fucking card game - you're as bad as Seto Kaiba about this, Marik, ugh. ]
<hotrod>
Even our agreement.
[ Rest assured! Apparently getting your dead arch-nemesis to smooch your prior abode PROMOTES THE RISE OF THE TRUE FOG!
Or something. ]
<GODKING>
so in other words, your assistance with spreading truths about the Fog will help you defeat her (via pharaoh, via card game). that's what you just said.
it's not that I trusted you, but you're telegraphing worse than usual. been getting enough sleep?
<hotrod>
[ Can he say it. Can he say it, to the Ring-Spirit? He'll be opening himself up for vulnerability, but... the funny thing about this otherwise completely untrustworthy person is that he's already seen Marik at Marik's most vulnerable. And agreed to help anyway. Because it served his own purposes.
So whatever. ]
My family thinks I'm dead.
1/3 [not here]
2/3 [still not here] [cw: suicidal ideation]
The Ring-Spirit can't help but compare their goals in going home. The Ring-Spirit intends to finish what he'd been interrupted in the middle of: opening the door to the Afterworld. Release the rest of his divine-self into the mortal realm, then tear his own self apart to give back the piece of himself that he carried - destroy the Ring-Spirit, discard the Thief-King, thus making whole the Great Evil God. Thus ensuring that the entirety of the world suffers just as much as Kul Elna, and for just as long.
When he gets home, Marik and his siblings will, all of them, be far worse off than simply dead.
...He feels some kind of way about that. ]
3/3 [here again!] <GODKING>
everyone says the Fog is what keeps us here, but that's only the truth insofar as she keeps us *in Ryslig*. what she's keeping us from isn't our homes, it's the Sea of Stars. she can pull us out of there, but none of us, not even her, have been able to pass *beyond* it. the Sea of Stars is the true obstacle. ask Noa for more detail.
I don't plan on staying here forever either. I've been working on it myself, but it's slow going.
[ If there was anything decent about him, he'd warn somebody "hey, when we're ready to go home, don't let me go with you" but, well. If he was anything decent they wouldn't need a warning like that, now would they. ]
<hotrod>
So Marik will consider what the Ring-Spirit has to say. Ask Noa, huh. That can be arranged. Marik is so incredibly well-situated here, it's amazing. Yes, Ryslig clearly had just been waiting for Marik Ishtar to show up in order to be saved. He's got this. ]
Is Noa collaborating with you?
[ do you two have a plan
can he hear the plan
can he make fun of and then improve the plan
that is what you hired him to do
yes
.......shoot, though, the Fog's weakness isn't going to help in the long run then, huh. ONE CANNOT DUEL THE SEA OF STARS.
Probably. ]
<GODKING>
not as such. we share information, but have different priorities.
<hotrod>
...and while he tries to surmount this Sea of Stars hurdle, here, have a nonsequitur that just popped into his mind on the topic of Noa. Obviously you need to hear everything he thinks it would be a good idea for you to do, as he ponders the ultimate goal, because all of his ideas are good ideas. ]
You should become a Fog Priest, too. It will increase your credibility.
<GODKING>
<hotrod>
[ and this is where his plans start potentially conflicting, because he needs the Fog weak so Atem can duel her, but if they're going to impress the Fog, right now things that restore her power would be most effective...
But he shall thread this needle! He is certain! He PONDERS. ]
